Dr. Manon P. Hapke
Dr. Hapke graduated from the school of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 1991.
For the past 18 years, Dr. Hapke has been practicing optometry at the McLeod Optometry Clinic.
Dr. Hapke enjoys assisting patients of all ages and endeavors to work with them to achieve their optimal visual health.
During her free time, Dr. Hapke enjoys volunteering at her children’s schools, scrapbooking, gardening and spending time outdoors with her family.
Dr. Annie Micucci
Dr. Annie Micucci was born and raised in Ottawa and was a patient at McLeod Optometry long before joining the practice in 2011. After graduating from St. Pius X High School, Dr. Micucci completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Ottawa and went on to attend the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, graduating in 2011. Throughout her studies she completed internships in Waterloo, Ottawa, and Windsor, Ontario, as well as Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Micucci enjoys working with all patients and has a special interest in working with children. She has considerable experience working with children of all ages in various settings. Dr. Micucci can prescribe medications for eye infections and is a member in good standing with the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists.
Currently, Dr. Micucci sits on the Inquiries, Complaints, and Reports Committee of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. "In November 2012, she also participated in an eye care project in the Philippines as an eye care provider, where over 4000 patients were examined and 3800+ pairs of donated glasses were distributed to those less fortunate."
Dr. Thomas Noël
Dr. Thomas Noël graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Ottawa in 1996. He then pursued his studies at the University of Montreal School of Optometry and graduated with a Doctorate in Optometry in 2000. After graduation, Dr. Noël did an externship at the Syracuse Veteran Hospital Department of Ophthalmology in Syracuse, New York, in conjunction with the Eye Consultants of Syracuse. Dr. Noël moved back to his home town of Ottawa in 2001, where he has his own optometry practice.
Dr. Thomas Noël developed a keen interest in Laser Vision Correction and was hired by Dr. Edmison, Focus Eye Center’s Medical Director, in May 2001 to oversee the ophthalmic care of Focus Eye Center’s laser vision patients. He has given numerous lectures on Laser Vision Correction and acted as the liaison between co-managing Optometrists and Focus Eye Center from 2003 to 2007.
Dr. Thomas Noël was the President of the Ottawa Society of Optometrists from 2001-2004. He was elected in 2008 as Provincial Council Member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. He presently chairs the Registration Committee of the College of Optometrists of Ontario and sits on the Executive Committee of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. Dr. Noël has been an examiner from 2002 to 2007 for the Canadian Standard Assessment in Optometry (C.S.A.O.) Exams in Optometry.
He is also the Co-Chair of the Eye Health Council of Ontario (EHCO) which regroups optometrists and ophthalmologists which have a mandate to improve the delivery and quality of eye care in the Province of Ontario.
Dr. Thomas Noël joined the practice in 2005 and is presently the owner of the clinic. Dr. Noël is the son of Dr. Leon-Paul Noël, who is also a well-known Pediatric Ophthalmologist. Dr. Noël Senior worked at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for 20 years, before joining SUNY (State University of New York) as the program director of the Residency Program in Ophthalmology.
Dr. W.A. Patterson
Dr. Patterson’s career with the McLeod Optometry Clinic spans nearly three decades.
After graduating from Sir Robert Borden High School, Dr Patterson enrolled in the University of Waterloo. He completed his clinical training in Jamaica in 1979, before graduating in 1980 with a Doctorate of Optometry.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Dr. Patterson chose to return to his hometown and to join the family practice, originally working with his father, Dr. R.W. Patterson. The practice was truly a family operation, with both father and son working in together performing the eye exams, and Mrs. Patterson overseeing the administration of the office.
His dedication to the profession has continually seen Dr. Patterson pursuing opportunities to better the field, producing a long and diverse career within the Optometric Community.
From 1983 until 1995, Dr. Patterson was an active member of the Canadian Vision Caravan, a charitable organization providing free eye care to third world countries. Additionally, he also sat on the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Optometry from 1990 until 1991.
Currently, Dr. Patterson is an advisor to the Canadian Examiners Board, which reviews and updates the national optometric licensing examinations. His current practice includes an extensive focus on contact lenses and laser vision correction.
In Dr. Patterson’s free time, he enjoys skiing, golfing and fishing.
Dr. John-Paul Muggeridge
Dr. John-Paul Muggeridge was born in Toronto and grew up in Burlington, Ontario. He moved to Ottawa to attend the University of Ottawa where he earned an Honours Bachelor of Science with a Specialization in Biochemistry, graduating with Magna Cum Laude distinction. After contemplating medical school, Dr. Muggeridge decided to attend the University of Waterloo to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree where he graduated on the Dean's List.
While attending Optometry school he participated in various projects including a one week mission to provide eye care and glasses to the residents of a village in northern Peru. During his various internships he gained extensive experience diagnosing and treating ocular diseases and has a special interest in the diagnosis, treatment and management of glaucoma. In his spare time he enjoys playing tennis and biking. Dr. Muggeridge is a familiar face at McLeod Optometry Clinic where he worked as a technician and receptionist during his time at optometry school.
Jolene – Receptionist, C.C.O.A – Jolene joined the clinic in September, 2009, having worked in Optometry since 2003. She completed her C.C.O.A (Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant) training in August of 2008. Jolene is knowledgeable in many facets of the office and works in the lab while Melissa is traveling. Jolene has assisted in the organization of events that the McLeod Optometry Clinic has participated in to benefit the CNIB and the Canadian Council of the Blind. In her spare time, Jolene enjoys cake decorating, cooking, interior design, and loves spending time with her family.
Lauren – Receptionist, Visual Field Technician – Lauren joined the McLeod Optometry Clinic in August 2011. Originally from the dentistry field, Lauren has been working in a clinic environment since 2010. Lauren is warm, welcoming and always pleased to assist patients. In her spare time, Lauren enjoys rock climbing, paddleboarding and playing video games.
Lucie – Receptionist, C.C.O.A. – Lucie began her career in optics in February 2000, originally working as an Operating Room Assistant in Laser Vision Correction eventually becoming Assistant Director. Lucie joined the McLeod Optometry Clinic in 2006. In August of 2008, Lucie became certified as a C.C.O.A. after completing her training. Lucie is cheerful and welcoming. She has extensive contact lens knowledge and offers support and comfort when teaching patients to use contact lenses for the first time. In her spare time, she enjoys competitive bowling, cooking and camping
